21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
2019 is upon us, and as a New Life family we want to start the new year by dedicating our first to the Lord. Join us for 21 days of prayer and fasting starting Monday 14 January to Sunday 3 February. This is a great opportunity for you to receive God’s wisdom and direction for you and your family as we pray in unity during this three-week period. You won’t want to miss these three weeks of powerful daily prayer and encouragement as you give the first of your year to the Lord. Download the 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting plan here.

FASTS: We fast to withhold food or other pleasures for the purpose of sacrificial prayer. As I fast it is to draw me closer to the Lord as I deny my flesh so that I can lean into the Spirit. Fasting is also a powerful weapon, see Isaiah 58:6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”

If you are new to fasting, or if you have a medical condition that is affected by fasting, please see the Partial fast or the Daniel Fast as 2 options you can follow. Please check with your Medical Practitioner as to the safety of your fast, as we at New Life Church cannot accept responsibility for your health during or after a fast.
Here are some types of fasts that you can choose from:
(1) Daniel Fast – no animal products, only fruit nuts seeds veg and wholegrains (no bread).
(2) Fluids only – fruit juices and water and veg and fruit smoothies. You can do this from 6am to 6pm or for the full 21 days, if you are healthy.
(3) Partial fast – deny yourself the following – sugar, wheat products, junk food, coffee and tea, social media, TV – these are some examples of a partial fast.

Here are two Prayer Guides to download that will help you to structure your prayer effectively:
